Lucas films use of CGI and special effects lead to the creation of corporations like Digital Productions to provide these enhanced special effects. These companies then continued to make breakthroughs in technology and special effect techniques that are used today. Another long term effect that the Starwars movies had was the financial benefits it provided 20th Century Fox. The movies cause the stock value of Fox to go from $6 up to 1.2 Million dollars revenue per day. Fox declared excess profit in 1977 and also bought Aspen skiing and Pebble Beach golf corporations due to this extra cash flow it received from the movies. Not only did Starwars financially effect the movie business, but it also politically effected the world. In the 2001 Census, over 390,000 UK respondents put their religion as "Jedi". Starwars has been mentioned by members of UK parliament in debates and even referenced by Obama in a speech when speaking about republicans he said that some people expect him to perform a "Jedi mind meld" on republicans. Along with these impacts, Starwars impacted television, from commercials to entire episodes of TV shows like the parodies from Family guy starting with the episode called "blue harvest". These are only some of the lasting long term effects that Starwars and George Lucas had not only in the movie industry, but the world. Right now a new Star Wards movie is being made, Star Wars episode VII. This shows that the legacy Star Wars made is still present today. The film is scheduled to come out later this year.
